Should I Use Moisturizer in the Winter?

Should I Use in Winter Moisturizer?
Tweet Share
Should I use moisturizer in the winter? That’s the question many people ask, because winter air is obviously different than the air of other seasons. In the summer, you know moisturizer with sunscreen is imperative in order to maintain healthy skin and prevent sun damage. But winter is another story. Or is it?
In the winter, the air is much drier due to the cold temperature and weather patterns. As a result, the skin dries out, and if left untreated, begins to flake or even crack. Cracked skin can be very painful, especially on the hands or feet. The flaky itchy skin is almost as uncomfortable and often results in skin damage due to scratching and the development of related rashes. Yet the simple use of moisturizer can prevent or relieve many of these problems. Skin care in winter requires different attention to your skin but it doesn't mean necessary spending more time.
The question is: Should I use moisturizer in the winter? The answer is: Yes, you should. Moisturizer used once or twice a day can seal in skin moisture which prevents the skin from drying out. The drier your skin, the more intense the moisturizer should be. The thickest and most pore sealing moisturizers are the oil and cream based products. The cream contains ingredients, such as petroleum and glycerin that literally seal the skin so moisture can’t escape.
It really does not matter what kind of climate you live in either. Even milder climates experience drier winter air which can lead to skin problems. Whenever the moisture in the skin evaporates due to the condition of the air surrounding you, the body will draw upon water stored in the body. It’s much better to keep your skin moisturized on a daily basis, and in doing so, prevent additional water loss.
The answer is you should use moisturizer year round. That’s the only way to protect your skin from the sun, wind, humidity, cold and anything else the weather can produce. You should use a deep penetrating night time moisturizer and a lighter daytime moisturizer you can wear under your foundation.

Human hair is growing in definite cycles. Below you can find out some information concerning three phases of hair growth.

Anagen is the phase of hair growth which is from 2 to 8 years long. During this period the cells in hair papillas divide themselves continually and this way they build the stalk of a hair. A stalk becomes hardened with keratine while gradual growing out of the cells into the skin pores. At the same time the cell is growing into deeper layers of skin to get nutrition.

Catagen is the next phase which is relatively short because it lasts for only 2 to 4 weeks and it the phase of a hair renewal. The hair follicle stops growing thus becomes degenerated but it does not fall out right away. It shrinks to around one sixth of its normal width. Its bottom part becomes destroyed and a hair papilla gets separated from its follicle. A hair bulb is separated from the blood nutrition and, as a result, the whole stalk becomes pulled outside when a hair follicle gets disintegrated.

Telogen is the last phase of a rest which lasts from 2 to 4 months. During this period a hair still is not growing, although it is detached to a follicle while its papilla is at rest. If the whole process (cycle) of hair growth is taking a normal course then app. 10 to 15% of hairs remain at this stage.

After the Telogen phase the whole cycle is completed and the Anagen phase begins. The new stalk of a hair is being formed and the old one id being pulled out and falls out.

Important!
When a new hair (new stalk) begins growing out of the hair cell, it has to get rid of the old one first. If that happens to many hair cells at the same time, we can observe the process of casting or losing hair (ecdysis), which means that large amount of hair is falling out at the same time.

Washing Hair Sensibly

Tweet Share

Last year one of the English cosmetic companies made detailed research on 500 people. On the basis of this research there has been agreed the best way to wash one’s hair, at least according to the British taking part in the questionnaire. The most important is the temperature of water used for washing: it should be exactly 36.7°C.

Hair shampooing

Another important thing is to use the right amount of shampoo. People with short hair should not use more than 6ml of shampoo, whereas people with long hair should use no more than 10ml. Decide for yourself if you use these pieces of advice or not. We want to add a few of our own:

If you feel like, you may prepare the homemade herbal shampoo. Here’s the recipe: 2 spoonfuls of chopped soap-wort root mix with the same amount of nettle leaves and burdock root.Pour 2 glasses of boiling water on this. After half an hour take the herbs out and cool the liquid a bit more. This shampoo will clean your hair and scalp very well without drying them out.

While you wash your hair you may want to massage your scalp with round movements. Firstly massage the front part of your head, then both sides, then the top and finally the part above your neck at the back; take half a minute for every part. This stimulates the blood circulation and increases hair growth.

Always use cool water for the final rinsing which helps to close the hair shells and makes your hair shinier.Do not rub your hair with the towel. This destroys it. Instead wrap a towel around your head and squeeze it gently with your hands.

Leticia
I know many recipes for lotions and hair masks, and whenever I have some time I use them. To make my hair shiny and soft I always add a teaspoon of vinegar or a nettle infusion for the last rinse. When I want to make my hair fairer I rub some lemon juice into my hair for a few months. It works!

Chrysanthemum
This flower may also be used in cosmetology. In particular it is very popular in the Far East. Japanese women prepare lotion made from fresh petals: they pour them with mineral water and put his into a fridge. Then they use the liquid to wash their faces. This lotion helps to get rid of tiny wrinkles and hyper pigmentation. Warning! Chrysanthemum may cause allergy.

Maintaining a healthy diet and following an exercise regime are the best ways to ward off disease and live a long, full life. Unfortunately, gaining weight and obesity have been a growing problem not just in the United States, but all over the world. With our ever increasingly busy lives, we rarely leave ourselves enough time to eat a balanced meal or make time for exercise. In this article we’ll discuss why maintaining a healthy weight is so important and how to know if you need to lose some weight.

Woman trying to lose some weight

Losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle are very important in preventing a number of different diseases and disorders. Being overweight can put extra strain on the heart, causing high blood pressure and can eventually lead to heart disease. Exercising helps build healthy bones and can prevent or slow down the onset of osteoporosis. Not only is exercise good for the body, but it’s also good for the mind. Exercising releases serotonin, which regulates the mood. It can leave you feeling elated after a good workout and can relieve stress. Exercise can also relieve tense, stressed muscles after a long day.

Getting in better shape will not only help you in the long run, but will give you a better sense of self confidence. Let’s face it – there’s plenty of discrimination out there for people that are overweight. Getting in shape will make you feel better about yourself.

If you’re not sure if you need to lose weight, try calculating your BMI, or your Body Mass Index. This calculation, based on your height and weight, can give you an approximation of how much fat is in your body. To calculate your BMI, multiply your weight in pounds by 703, and then divide by your height in inches twice. The target is to have a BMI of between 18.5 and 25, while 25 and higher indicates being overweight, while over 30 is obese.

Tips on Shaving Sensitive Skin for Men & Women

How to Shave Sensitive Skin: Tips for Men and Women

Tweet Share

Safety Razor

Shaving is an extremely unpleasant experience for some people. You start shaving, the skin is smooth, and then it turns red, becomes full of rashes. You have got a sensitive skin if these problems are a common occurrence. People with sensitive skin should take some precautionary steps before and after shaving, so please enjoy our tips for men and women on shaving sensitive skin.

You have got a sensitive skin if fine texture is covered by a thin layer of outer skin. Blood vessels inside the epidermis appear quite close to the surface in such cases. This skin gets irritated very easily upon exposure to heat, cold, commercial products and ultraviolet rays.

You may end up with bumps, dryness, stinging and redness if you are not careful while shaving areas with sensitive skin. A sensitive skin is likely to develop undesirable redness, dehydration and blotchiness due to external or internal changes. Clinical trials conducted by various independent study groups and research organizations suggest that mild and fragrance free shaving products are best suited for the sensitive skin.

Thoroughly wet your beard before you start shaving: Use a little warm water to wet your beard thoroughly. This should be done at least 5 minutes in advance. People with sensitive skin should shave after the shower and not before it. Shaving off wet hair is easier. Your razor blade will cause less skin damage in that case.Always use a sharp razor blade: It is very important to use a sharp razor blade if you have a sensitive skin. Old or used razor blades can cause a lot of pulling and irritation. Your skin will suffer more damages in such cases. Dull razor blades are likely to cause a burning sensation. These blades do not glide smoothly over the skin. They will just chafe the skin as you try to remove the beard.Do not use common shaving products: People with sensitive skin should always buy products that are labeled as "perfume free" or dry free. Chances of an adverse reaction are much less if you use safe products. Commercial products that are especially labeled for sensitive skin have ingredients with lower pH value. Experts recommend products with natural ingredients for people who have sensitive skin. Also, you should look for products that have butyle paraben or methyl paraben as preservatives. In any case, you should avoid products with botanical or antibacterial ingredients. Your skin will be more supple and well hydrated if you moisturize it properly.Lather up no matter where you are shaving: Whether you are shaving your beard, legs or underarms, you must remember to lather properly. You can use a mild soap with low pH or a shaving cream labeled "for sensitive skin".Have patience: Don't be in a hurry when you start shaving sensitive skin areas. Never run the razor blade over skin areas that have been shaved off already. You will end up with burning sensations or itching immediately if you run the blade over areas that you have shaven already. It is fine to spend an additional five minutes to shave slowly and avoid extremely irritating consequences including redness, dehydration and blotchiness.Try to shave less: Your skin will burn a lot less if you apply fewer strokes with your razor blade. Apply effective and careful strokes every time.Do not shave against the hair growth: You should always shave in the direction of the growth of hair. Less pulling and irritation takes place when you apply razor blade strokes along the grain of hair growth. Shaving in the opposite direction will lead to irritation almost immediately.Leave potentially dangerous areas: Hair over a sensitive skin will protrude a little more than normal if you go on pulling and stretching. Chances of ingrown hair are pretty high if you shave over the stretched skin area.Exfoliate on a regular basis: You should use a good exfoliating cleanser at least once a week. This way, your skin will get rid of dead skin-cells that cause damage. Also, trapped hairs on the sensitive skin are freed by dead cell removal.Do not temper existing bumps: It is important to avoid existing razor bumps. These bumps can cause significant irritation or scars. They will start bleeding as soon as you run the razor blade over them.Moisturize the skin on a regular basis: It is important to use a lotion with aloe for this purpose. Always buy moisturizers meant for "sensitive skin" only.

Getting a smooth and painless shave is possible if you are ready to follow tips for shaving sensitive skin (for men and women as well) mentioned above. Taking all these precautionary measures is really worth it. You can successfully avoid razor burns, bumps, rashes and ingrown hairs. Be a little careful and you can easily avoid adverse effects.

Best conditioners for curly hair

Best Conditioners for Curly Hair

Tweet Share

Curly hair can be difficult to manage because it is often naturally dry or becomes frizzy in humid weather. The best way to manage curly hair is to choose a good conditioner that is formulated for curly hair, and knowing what to look for is an excellent place to start. In this article, we’ll discover what to look for when choosing the best conditioners for curly hair.

Beautiful woman with curly hair

Curly hair is often naturally dry because the natural oils that are produced in the scalp have a harder time traveling down the hair shafts than they do with straighter hair. This is why it is so important to use a conditioner that is creamy and has plenty of hydrating properties. Conditioners with essential oils and botanicals, such as avocado and jojoba oil are a way to use natural ingredients to help keep hair hydrated.

Many of the best conditioners for curly hair will include panthenol, which experts claim penetrates the hair follicle, making it stronger and more resistant to breakage, silicone, or dimethicone. While you should generally avoid alcohol in your hair products, which can dry out your hair, cetyl or stearyl alcohol can be beneficial for curly hair. That is because these kinds of alcohol are fatty, saturated alcohols, which can restore hydration to the hair follicles and make the hair easier to comb through when it’s wet.

A common problem with curly hair is that shampooing it too frequently can dry it out, but conditioners can help combat this effect. Even if you don’t shampoo every day, you can still rinse your hair and apply a conditioner to help keep the hair moisturized.

If you do choose to use a cream conditioner in your hair every day, be sure not to use very hot water, as this can also lead to dry skin. Condition your hair lukewarm or cool water to get the best effect from your new conditioner.

Taking care of sensitive skin

Taking Care of Sensitive Skin

Tweet Share

Sensitive skin is characterized by skin that reacts adversely to changes to the environment, such as too much sun, extreme temperatures, or reactions to certain cosmetics or other pharmaceuticals. Sensitive skin can react by becoming swollen, red, itchy or dry. Sometimes, sensitive skin can be confused with skin disorders such as eczema or rosacea. If you think you might have sensitive skin, you may want to consult a dermatologist, who can determine if you’re suffering from a skin disorder. Sensitive skin can vary from mild to severe, but it can be managed with good skin care. Here are a few tips for taking care of sensitive skin.

Cleaning and moisturizing your skin are very important parts of your basic skin care regime, and those with sensitive skin should use products that are as pure as possible. Choose products that are fragrance-free, color-free, and preservative-free. Clean your face twice a day with a very gentle cleanser and follow up with a water-based moisturizer. Avoid moisturizers that are oil based and contain lanolin or mineral oil, as these can block the pores and cause pimples or black heads. The best kind of moisturizer will contain a sun block with an SPF of at least 15.

If you use makeup, be sure to use products that are hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. You may wish to avoid products that are mineral based, as these can prompt an allergic reaction. Always be sure to remove makeup when you wash your face at the end of the day. Also, try to avoid washing with very cold or very hot water and avoid very hot baths, as these can over dry the skin.

Exfoliating is an important part of the skin care regime, and just because your skin is sensitive doesn’t mean that you have to skip this step. Use a very gentle exfoliant once a week to remove old skin cells and help your skin breath, keeping it looking healthy and fresh.

Vitamins and Weight Loss

Vitamins play an important part in the fight to lose weight, but don’t be fooled by "lose weight fast" gimmicks of pills and supplements. The safest and healthiest way is to lose weight through a healthy diet and exercise program, and all of the vitamins that will help you lose weight can be found in a wide range of healthy food choices. Plus, when you lose weight gradually through diet and exercise, you’re less likely to gain the weight back. Here are a few vitamins that will help you lose weight and the types of food where you can find them.

Weight Loss Vitamins

Vitamin B2 helps promote healthy thyroid and metabolic production, which in turn helps you burn calories more efficiently. Foods rich in Vitamin B2 include, milk, eggs, liver, kidney, almonds, hard cheese and green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin B3 also helps regulate thyroid hormone production and also helps your body tolerate blood sugar. Foods rich in Vitamin B3 include meat, chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs, salmon, barley, oats, cheese, dried fruit and brown rice.

Vitamin B5 helps us use fat to burn energy, instead of muscles, and helps in energy production. Foods rich in Vitamin B5 include poultry, meat, liver, kidney, eggs, nuts, wheat germ, beans, oats, barley, and green vegetables.

Like Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6 helps regulate thyroid hormone production and the metabolism. Foods rich in Vitamin B6 include beef, poultry, eggs, sardines, mackerel, dried fruit, cabbage, brown rice, bananas, avocados, wheat bran and wheat germ.

Vitamin C helps the body in a number of different ways, but it helps those trying to lose weight to convert glucose to energy. Foods rich in Vitamin C include broccoli, green peppers, black currents, kiwi fruit, Brussels sprouts, lemons, oranges, cabbage, and strawberries.

While Choline isn’t considered a vitamin, as it is produced by the liver, it does make up a part of the Vitamin B complex, and helps the metabolism work efficiently. A deficiency of choline can lead to a build up of fats in the liver. Foods rich in choline include beef liver, beef heart, egg yolks, cucumber, cauliflower and peanuts.

Much like choline, inositol is a part of the Vitamin B complex and helps the metabolism work efficiently. Foods rich in inositol include beef liver and heart, eggs, soy, nuts, whole grains and citrus fruits.

Hair Removal Buying Guide

Beauty Tips > Hair Tips > Hair Care Articles > Hair Removal Buying Guide

Removing body hair can be a chore. For decades hair removal methods were either messy, painful or both. Today there are many different methods to keep your skin smooth and hair free.

Hair Removal: Waxing

Razors: There are hundreds of variations on the basic razor. For men, for women, single bladed, double bladed, triple bladed and quad bladed. The bulk of razors sold are disposable, with replaceable head razors coming in a strong second. Some models have thin wires across the blades to reduce nicks. Others have thick bars of shaving cream built into their heads or strips of a skin soothing soothing lotion.

Depilatories: These are lotions, creams or foams that remove body hair by chemically burning the hair at the root. Some depilatories are fast acting and do nit require a long wait time like the creams of the past. New formulations can be used in the shower and will not wash away until scrubbed or scraped with a special sponge/tool included in the package. New scents improve the once foul smell of depilatories.

Epilators: Hand held devices with a rotating head or spring type mechanism that grasps hair, plucking them cleaning from the follicles are known as epilators. The most famous are the Epilady and Epila Hair Removal Laser. Epilators can be painful, though no more so than waxing. Epillation of hair can cause hair to grow back much finer over time.

Buffing: Buffing is essentially a sand paper type of disc that is rubbed vigorously against the skin either by hand or with a rotating hand held tool. Hair is 'sanded' away, while the skin is left with a smooth, polished look and feel. The buffing tool is a very fine texture and does not damage the skin unless held in one place for an extended period.

Waxing: This application can be done at home or in a salon. The traditional method of waxing involves heating a wax, spreading it over the skin, then placing cloth strips over the wax. The strips are pressed against the skin and stripped away, removing the hair in the area. Cold waxes are used in the same manner, minus the heating which lead to burns in some people when the wax was overheated. Hair that is removed by waxing grows in finer and lighter over time, much like epillation.

Electrolysis: Electrolysis takes the most time of all hair removal methods. Hair is grasped strand by strand with a tool that looks like tweezers and an electric current is sent down the hair, into the shaft to kill the bulb from which hair grows. This is a permanent method of removal and can be done at home or at a salon that offers this type of hair removal service. It can be painful if hair is pulled or the current is high.

Laser Removal: Another technique used to permanently remove hair is laser removal. Until recently this method was only available at a special office, performed by a doctor or licensed technician. Hand held laser hair removal tools are now available for home use. One popular choice is the Epila laser tool, which costs less than a single visit to an office for this procedure. Permanent results may not be achieved without multiple visits for the laser treatment, making at home laser hair removal an economical avenue.

No Starch Diet

No Starch Diet (NSD)

Tweet Share

This diet is also called The London Diet. It was developed by an Englishman- D. Alan Ebringer form The King’s Collage Hospital in London. He discovered that a bowel microbe Klebsiella and HLA-B27 antigen, that can be found in digestion system, are responsible for some of the immune system dysfunctions and the development of ZZSK. The London Diet is suspected to reduce the quantity of the microbe in the digestion system. As a result, it reduces the production of antibodies by the immune system that attack the connective tissues and lead to its degeneration- also called ZZSK. The lower microbe number in a one’s body has a significant influence on diminishing of the disease symptoms. In short, during this diet you should avoid starch and sugar in the meals, or considerably reduce their consumption. Your diet has to be enriched by protein instead.

Reduce the following:

Bread and flour products;Potatoes;Pasta;Rice;Sweet products;Other products containing starch.

Increase the following:

Meat;Vegetables;Fruit;Eggs;Cheese;Fish.

As you see the diet is very rigorous , but there are some visible results. Some people undergoing the diet, stopped suffering from pain and stiffening. They could cease taking anti-inflammatory drugs without side-effects. Unfortunately, the diet works only with few people. Probably, taking Sulfosalazine (an antibiotic that destroys the microbe) may help in some cases.

I decided to execute The NSD for about a month. I restricted rigorously all the rules for two weeks. In the meantime, I tried Sulfosalazyna and quit taking anti-inflammatory drugs- just to try and see the virtual results. The pain and stiffening withdrew almost completely. Unfortunately, it worked only for few days. I ceased using this diet, because of its strict rules. I tried to contrive a menu, but it turned out to be very difficult. I could not replace bread by any other food. What is more, starch is a basic energetic constituent of our diet, and I think its limitation may be dangerous. Anyway, I can recommend this diet. Maybe you will achieve better results. Let me know.

Best Shampoos for Straight Hair

Tweet Share

Straight hair is typically very fine and can be difficult to care for. While the way the hair is styled will have an impact on how straight your hair is, shampoo can also play a part in how straight your hair is. The type of shampoo you use can help add volume to thin hair and help keep it clean and protected. In this article, we'll discuss what you should look for when buying a shampoo for straight hair or if you wish to encourage your wavy hair to be straighter.

Woman with long beautiful hair

When looking for the right shampoo for straight hair, be sure to avoid creamy shampoos that are formulated for curly hair, as they can weigh down your hair and cause it to look greasy, so be on the lookout for clear shampoos. Look for shampoos that advertise formulas for fine, limp or straight hair. An important ingredient in good shampoos for straight hair is panthenol, which experts believe can penetrate the hair follicle and make each strand thicker.

Those with fine, straight hair often find that their hair looks oily the day after a shampoo, but this will depend on the product. Don’t be afraid to experiment with how often you can go between shampooing, because the less you shampoo, the better it is for your hair.

If you have wavy hair and wish to encourage it to be straighter, you can also benefit from shampoos that are formulated for straight hair. Straightening shampoo can help by cutting down on frizz and flyaway hair, encouraging the hair to be smoother and straighter.

Often, straightening shampoos will need to be used in conjunction with another styling method if your hair is naturally curly, but this type of shampoo will certainly help protect the hair. For the best effect, be sure to choose a straightening shampoo that doesn't contain alcohol, which will result in dry hair.

Milk-free Diet

Milk-free Diet

Tweet Share

Milk and other dairy products may cause allergic reaction. Usually infants and young children are afflicted by milk protein intolerance, e.g. it is experienced by about 3% of children aged 4. In the course of time, if there is a proper milk-free diet executed, milk intolerance usually diminishes. The further consumption of dairy products does not results in any problematic symptoms.

Milk substitutes

In most cases the problem of milk allergy diminishes with advancing age. The milk-free diet, which should be kept in this time, contains properly balanced products and supplies all the necessary nutrients required by a young body. In the period of infancy and early childhood milk has to be replaced by milk substitutes. They are based on casein hydrolysate or whey hydrolysate. Their allergy-inducing properties are about 500-1000 times weaker, comparing with traditional milk compounds. They should be given in the same amounts as traditional food. There is also a milk substitute based on soy but it need be said, that about half number of children allergic to cow’s milk proteins are also allergic to soy proteins.

More proteins

After the infancy period, increase the amount of other sources of protein in a child’s diet i.e. poultry (chicken, turkey) or rabbit meat, which is said to be the least allergic, to help you avoid malnutrition. The amount of vegetables, fruit and cereals should by the same as in a healthy child’s diet.Replace butter with milk-free margarine. Many processed or commercially prepared foods, including frozen, canned or packaged foods, often contain milk, so always check carefully the list of ingredients on the label before you use the product.

Children
Some children may suffer from lactose intolerance. Any food intolerance is an adverse reaction of your body to food (unrelated to the immune system). It may be connected with such diseases as celiakia, alimentary canal allergy, lambliosis or digestive enzyme congenital deficiency. Symptoms include anything from stomach-ache, severe cramps, diarrhea and flatulence. Severity of lactose intolerance differs from person to person. For some, milk and dairy products must be eliminated completely, for others they only need to be restricted. In this case, you have to replace milk with milk and lactose-free substitutes. Older children (aged 5 and more) if not allergic to milk proteins, can drink small amounts of yoghurt or kefir.

Adults
Lactose intolerance may affect adults as well. Reportedly, 10%-15% of people in our country have been diagnosed with intolerance. They should remove all potential food allergens from their diet, and cannot drink fresh milk because it contains lactose. However, they can include different kinds of milk products in their diet without any serious consequences. It is possible because the bacteria in milk products consume most of the lactose as soon as the product moves from stomach to intestines. These bacteria are so efficient that they often break down the lactose before the lactose-intolerant person has a chance to react to it. It is said , that milk intolerance is usually a result of avoiding milk in the early stages of life. It effects in the lack or insufficient production of lactose. Most of the people who re-introduced milk-products and started drinking milk again, produced the enzyme and stopped suffering from intolerance. You can also start taking Lactosanol, or other drugs containing lactose that should be taken with milk. On completely lactose free diet, calcium supplements may be required. Fuller hair

How to Get Fuller Hair

Tweet Share

As you get older, you may notice your hair-thinning out a bit, even if you are female. There are a variety of reasons for hair to get less full as you age. Hair is exposed to a number of chemicals in salon treatments and excessive hair treatments can make the hair thin out. Even excessive braiding can make your hair thin out a bit, so it doesn't take chemicals to get that happening. Add to that the normal hormonal fluctuations as you age, and the hair has a tougher time being plump and full like you remember it in your youth. There are ways, however, to get your hair to look fuller without resorting to hair extensions, which can also stress the hair out later.

If you opt for a short bob cut, the hair is shorter and springs back a little more than when it is longer. Short cuts are good for creating fuller hair because it is not weighted down as much. This is very natural and healthy way to get fuller hair and should be considered the best of the fuller hair tips being offered here.

Another way to get the same effect with longer hair is to layer it. Some people like to get their hair layered and others find it eventually grows out and doesn't have the same look when you first got it cut. You will have to commit to continuing the layering process as it grows out to keep it looking nice.

While hair needs to be conditioned to maintain its moisture and glossy sheen, it doesn't need to be over conditioned. The heavier the conditioner is, the more it will weigh down the hair. Opt for a light conditioner that does the job but doesn't add any additional weight to the hair.

Do check out volumizing shampoos and hair care products. They are specifically made for thin hair. They don't heal the underlying problem, but they can make your hair look fuller temporarily. The more you use the volumizing shampoo, the more they build up and make your hair look fuller.

Poor diet can cause thin hair. It can be easily remedied by adding some vitamins and supplements to your diet. Biotin is known to be a great supplement to help make your hair lush and supple. Add some B vitamins too, to help the hair recover. A healthy diet includes lots of water too. The hair needs moisture to look good and it gets it from your body. So, drink up and take your vitamins.

Finally, it's not enough to add strength and body to your hair; you also have to quit doing things that are stressing your hair out. For good fuller hair tips, always avoid excessively treating your hair to permanent colors, highlights, braiding, or styling. All of these seem benign until your hair starts to fall out from over treating it.

Hair color has and instant effect on people, it can rejuvenate you, make you look mature, professional, passionate, funny, sassy, shy or extreme. In hair color, creativity is endless.

Love for color - color palette

To master hair color, a colorist has to understand chromatics, the perception of color by the human eye and brain, the hair composition, texture and pigmentation. The reason why we, colorist should understand it is because of the nature of color. After all, color is the reflection of light. As bizarre as it sound, colorists play with light, manipulating the way it reflects. Without light, there would be no color.

Have you hear about not visible color? Many species can see wavelengths that fall outside the "visible spectrum". Bees and many other insects can see light in the ultraviolet, which helps them find nectar in flowers.

Understanding the law of color is also very helpful when creating and recommending color. The law of color states that, out of all the colors in the uni-verse, only three - yellow, red and blue, called pri-mary colors - are pure. That means they cannot be created by mixing together any other colors. Instead, when they are mixed together in varying proportions, these primary colors create all other colors. To organize those colors we use a color wheel. The color wheel it comes very useful when doing color corrections.

Identifying level of color, intensity, existing natural and artificial pigmentation, and skin or eyes tones is a must on a client consultation. Knowing a client’s skin tone is important in hair coloring in order to complement a client's natural coloring and helping the client to pick the perfect hair color.

Remember of the beauty of color, the endless creativity and the delightful possibility of being whoever you want to be… young, mature, professional, passionate, funny, sassy, shy, extreme… the next time you are getting your hair colored.

Sunscreen in the Winter – The Sun Shines All Year!

Beauty Tips > Skin Care Tips > Sunbathing Tips >
Suncreen in the Winter

Everyone should use sunscreen in the winter for the simple reason the sun shines all year long. It doesn’t matter if the temperature is colder or there are more cloudy days. The fact is the sun’s ultraviolet rays bombard the earth throughout the year and can penetrate many cloud covers. That means the skin is continually exposed to the sun’s rays.

It doesn’t matter that more clothes are worn during winter, because unless you completely cover yourself from head to toe, there will always be skin exposed.

The most vulnerable places on your body during the winter are the face and hands. In the winter, the sun’s heat is less due to the angle of sunlight, but the ultraviolet A and B rays are still strong enough to cause skin damage. When your skin is exposed to these rays it doesn’t matter what time of year it is. The ultraviolet rays can cause permanent skin damage.

Using sunscreen in the winter is important for a lot of reasons. Even if you don’t develop skin cancer, there are a host of other sun related skin problems the sun can cause. The sun dries the skin out and can cause premature aging.

People who have spent a lot of time in the sun without sunscreen protection are usually easy to spot. They have deep wrinkles in their skin. The sun can also cause brown aging spots and skin rashes.

In the winter, even after you bundle up in warm clothes, the face, ears and hands are still exposed to the sun. Everyone should use a winter moisturizer that also contains sunscreen. The damage done to the skin by the sun is cumulative.

Every time you get a sunburn, changes are happening in the very cell structure of the skin. Over time, the damage becomes permanent or irreversible. Using sunscreen is a simple and highly effective way to prevent the sun from damaging skin including during the winter months.

Homemade Acne Masks for Face

Homemade Acne Masks for Face

Tweet Share

Acne is a common problem and strikes men and women of all ages. Hormonal changes in your body are the main cause of acne breakouts. Teenagers and women going through menopause can attest to this fact. Hormones trigger your sebaceous glands to produce too much sebum, the natural oil used to lubricate your skin. The sebum builds up in your pores along with dead skin cells and blocks your sweat glands. Bacteria then enter into the picture and acne is formed.

Acne is not caused by not washing your face, in fact excessive washing can irritate and spread acne. Always be gentle and use lukewarm water and pat your face dry. This will help to prevent the spread of the bacteria that causes acne. In this article you will recipes for natural, homemade acne treatments but you also find information about types of acne and other acne remedies.

facial acne

To better understand what causes acne, it is good to understand the different types. You may have only one type or a combination.

Acne vulgaris are cysts and nodules that are deep in your skin. This type of acne should be treated by a dermatologist as it can cause scarring and prescription medication is needed to treat it.

Blackheads are formed by a partially blocked pore. Dead skin cells and sebum block the pore and the melanin in your skin cells cause blackheads to develop a dark appearance.

Whiteheads are completely blocked pores. These are characterized by small white bumps caused by trapped sebum and dead skin cells.

Papules are small red, inflamed and tender bumps that do not come to a head.

Pustules are what most people think of as acne. These lesions are red, inflamed and can be tender to the touch with a large whitehead.

You can treat your acne with over-the-counter products, but these can be very drying and irritate your skin.

Common treatments include products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur and resorcinol.

Prescriptions medications can also be very hard on your skin and carry some risk of side effects. You doctor may prescribe medications like Accutane, oral contraceptives, oral or topical antibiotics, and prescription strength benzoyl peroxide treatments.

Before you make a trip to the drug store or your doctor give homemade acne mask treatments a try. Many of the ingredients you need are already in your pantry. Homemade remedies are safe, natural and take only a few minutes to make.

Baking Soda Mask
Simply mix baking soda and water into a paste and apply to your face after you cleanse it. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. You can use this mask three times a week.

Egg Mask
Egg whites are great to tone and firm your skin. Egg yolks contain Vitamin A to help prevent scarring. Simply separate an egg and beat either the white or yolk and apply to your face. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. Don't use these masks if you're allergic to eggs.

Basil Tonic Mask
Take 3 teaspoons of fresh basil and steep it in boiling water until it cools. Apply to your face with a cotton ball. This mask helps to clear your skin and tone it.

Sea Salt Mask
If you don't live near the ocean you can still get its benefits with this simple mask. Mix sea salt and water into a paste. Apply to clean skin and let sit until it become hard and crusty. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Oatmeal and Honey Mask
Mix oatmeal, honey and water to make a thick paste. Apply to your skin after you have cleansed it and let it sit for 20 minutes. Use a damp warm cloth to soften the mask and then rinse with warm water. The oatmeal will draw out excess oil and honey has many healing and antibiotic properties. Use organic honey if possible.

Rosewater and Cucumber Mask
Mix rosewater and cucumber paste together and apply to your clean face. Let sit for 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

Garlic Mask
Peel and mash 8 cloves of garlic and apply to your face. Be sure to avoid the eye area and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then tone your face with some vinegar on a cotton ball. Garlic has antibacterial properties and vinegar balances your skin's pH.

Groundnut Oil and Lime Mask
Mix 1 teaspoon of groundnut oil and 1 teaspoon of lime juice. Apply to your clean skin and let sit for a few minutes. Rinse with warm water. You can use this mask everyday to treat and prevent blackheads.

Apple and Honey Mask
Grate one apple and mix with honey. Apply to your skin and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Apples have pectin and vitamins that soothe and clarify your skin and honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Try these homemade acne masks to treat mild to moderate acne. Be sure to test the masks on the inside of your wrist to be sure you aren't allergic to any of the ingredients. Save money and use what you have in your kitchen to treat and prevent acne.

What Foods Cause Acne?

Beauty Tips > Skin Care Tips > Acne Tips >
What foods cause acne?

Tweet Share

Diet and acne... many people say that foods don't affect acne, some people say it does. Well, they are both right in my opinion. All depends how your body, your skin reacts to certain foods and what skin type you have - if you don't have acne problem, foods may not cause you problems, but for those with acne problem, certain foods can make it worst.

In my opinion, if you are reading this article I assume that you have acne problem, bigger or smaller, anyway it affects your life some way and you are looking for solution. My advice is - you should care what you eat, you should avoid certain foods, and you should have your eyes open and observe if your acne problem is getting worse after eating certain foods - because each of us may react different and what we can do is to observe our own bodies, simply to know our bodies like we know our favourite movie. Sounds strange? Believe me, so many of us don't know own body, especially how certain foods affect it.

In my opinion, foods are so important in our life and if we can, we always should care what we eat to make our internal systems stronger, it's hard to see how internal organs look like, but if they work properly we will be healthy.

I want to give you an example about something you can see: if you want to build strong body, big muscles and be simply strong man (or woman)! You have to exercise, practice, give your body muscles proper stimulation, it will make your body stronger - adding special foods into that, your body will be stronger even faster, because of proper nutrition. In acne battle is the same, just food is even more important.

It's good to use other treatments, like: proper cleansing, antibiotics and effective lotions - but without proper dietiary plan, they will not be as sufficient as they could be - even if you will get rid of acne using antibiotics, it may come back after a while if your diet is bad and you have to answer if you want to go for acne antibiotics again?

I guess you know that antibiotics always have some side effects. Read about the causes of acne and some crucial rules to follow to get rid of acne (one of them is to avoid certain foods - there are four more ruleslisted there).

It's great to start with restricted diet and after a while, when your acne problem is getting smaller, you can try with foods that you removed from your menu, maybe it will not affect you - you will observe. There always should be balance, between what to eat and what not to eat, sometimes we just like so much foods we should avoid and we have to let go our restrictions, we shouldn't be to hard on ourselves with our diets but it's great to know what food causes what problems in our body and be able to accept cause and effect.. and most important, always smile on the way!

So let's go to the most important part, to the list of foods that may cause the acne problem:

Nuts - and products that are made with nuts: such as peanut butterChocolates - in any formsCola and other dark drinks - it's ok to drink light colored sodasSpicy foods - especially if you use sauces you buy in stores, homemade chilli sauce with fresh peppers are not that bad.Salty foods - like french fries, chips and other. If you want to eat salt, please use it while cookingPizza - oops!Dairy productsLess sugar - it may cause problems, so consume less sweet products - I know it's hardLess fried foods - again something with "less". So enjoy fried foods, but not all the time

Well, I hope you are not depressed now! In the list you can see "less sugar" and "less fried foods" - I would recommend to remove sugar and fried foods for some days to see how your body reacts and then include a bit if wanted.

Feel that there is nothing left to eat? Well it's simply not true. I will give you in case the list of foods you can eat and it's the same long!

MeatChickenFishVegetables and fruitsCereals and grainsCoffee and teaBread

You may also try herbs for acne - but before using herbs it's recommended to consult first with doctor if you should use certain herbs and for how long. Read about good vitamins for acne.

It will all depends on how advance acne you have to get rid of your acne problem. As it was mentioned before, after getting rid of it, add foods from your "not to eat" list, one by one and give yourself few days how your body reacts. Now, you have to decide which list of foods you will choose. I believe both: you will avoid eating foods from the first list and enjoy foods on the second list.

Eating certain foods can dramatically improve the appearance of our skin, hair, nails, and eyes.

A diet rich in "phyto-compounds" can stimulate DNA repair, increased collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve blood flow. This not only keeps you healthy but it keeps you looking younger longer.

Creams and lotions can do wonders for your skin, but your diet is by far the most crucial when it comes to having healthy skin.

Beauty is dependent on the overall health of your body. In order for your skin to look attractive and vibrant you need to make healthy lifestyle choices, and a great place to start is with the foods you eat.

So if you want your skin to feel soft and look firm here are a few foods that you can eat starting today.

If you are looking for one of the most popular diets, you have found it! Pierre Dukan diet is one of the most popular diet these days. Why it is so popular? Is Dukan diet effective and safe?

This stage takes five days and you will lose weight really fast. Foods you can eat includes just low fat proteins. Great thing is, you don't have to count calories! You can eat as much as you can. In this step though, you can't eat salt but you can replace it with: lemons, mustard, herbs, vinegar, onions and garlic - to give extra taste to your food. You have to remember to drink plenty of water - minimum 1.5 l/day. Coffee? Tea? Yes you can, but without sugar.

Last as long as many kilograms you lost in first step. For example, if you lost 4 kilograms -> 2nd step will take you 4 weeks. For first five days you will eat dairy products and meet, then you will include in your diet almost all available vegetables, excluding: potatoes, corn and some more. You will lose around one kilogram per week in this step.

There are another two steps in this diet, to keep the weight, not gain kilograms again. Following Dukan diet you will see effects in a week and it's easy to adopt, you don't have to say STOP, you can eat simply - as much as you can.

On the other hand, diet is not the cheapest one for sure. It includes a lot of proteins what gives extra work for your kidneys.

How to Dye Your Hair at Home: Step-by-Step

Beauty Tips > Hair Tips > Hair Style Tips >
How to Dye Your Hair at Home: Step-by-Step Guide

Tweet Share

Attractive Woman Dyeing Her Hair

It can be overwhelming when you're standing in front of hundreds of hair dye boxes at the drugstore. After all, there are so many options, and it's easy to choose the wrong product if you don't go prepared.

This is why you should really think about what direction you want your hair color to go, if you're going to cover up grays, or if you're just coloring the roots. By going to the store prepared, you'll cut half of the confusion out of the equation because you'll be able to pinpoint the products you actually need. So if you're in the market to color your hair, here is a step-by-step guide for you to follow.

*Note: Most of the items that you need will come in the home hair dye kit including gloves, instructions, a bottle of formula, and a bottle of activator. You will also need to gather an old towel, paper towels, Vaseline, a hair clip, scissors, a timer and a paint brush.

Choose the color you want for your hair while keeping in mind your skin tone and natural hair color.
For example: if you have really pale skin, you shouldn't dye your hair black so as to avoid looking washed-out.Take the instructions, gloves, color mixes labeled 1 and 2, and conditioner out of the box. Then cut the number off of the box indicating what color it is, and keep this number somewhere safe so that you know what color to buy when your ready to re-color in a month or two; the number is usually at the top of the box in one of the corners.
Note: If you don't find all of the aforementioned items in the box, return the box to the store and exchange it for another.Begin by reading the instructions carefully. Set up your items so that they are easy to reach; have your old towel, paper towel, timer, and wear an old t-shirt before you get started. It's best to test a very small patch of your hair a day or two before you color your whole head of hair. A lot of people don't do this, and risk having a chemical or allergic reaction. Part your hair at the ears, pull a very small patch from the center of your head, and clip or tie back the rest of your hair.Put on the gloves that came in the box, and make sure any furniture you will be sitting on or near is protected with a towel. To avoid dyeing your ears, neck and forehead, apply a lip gloss or Vaseline. The areas that get the most unwanted dye are the back of the neck, slightly below the hair line, and on the top of the ears, so keep this in mind.Unscrew cap to the formula bottle labeled 1, then use scissors to cut the tip off of the activator bottle labeled 3.
Next, remove the cap, and mix the two liquids together as the instructions say. This involves pouring the contents of the formula bottle labeled 1 into the activator bottle labeled 2. With the cap on the activator bottle ,and your finger covering the tip, shake the bottle until the mixture is blended together. Now it's time to apply the color mixture to your hair. Note that there are different instructions for permanent and non-permanent hair dye, and some dyes require you to wet your hair, so it's important to read the directions inside of the box. Begin at the roots and move towards the tips of your hair.

For the most natural look, start applying hair dye where your natural part is. You can use a paint brush to make it easier to apply, but you'll also need to put your mixed color into a bowl.

A little rule of thumb: when you're dying your hair darker, begin applying color on the front sections because your hair tends to be lighter in the front. It is just the opposite when you dye your hair lighter because you should begin in the back.

As soon as you've finished applying the dye to your hair, throw the gloves away, and set the timer for the time mentioned in the directions. Wet a paper towel and wipe any excess dye off of your face, neck, arm or anything else that got messy. Most at-home hair dyes require 10-20 minutes depending on the length, color, and the amount of gray hair that you have. Try not to do anything to disturb your hair dye as it can easily drip and stain carpet, clothes, furniture, and in some cases, bathroom tile. When the timer goes off, use lukewarm-to-cool water to rinse the dye from your hair until the water runs clear.
Tip: Open the conditioner that came with the dye kit before you begin rinsing so that you don't have to struggle with it when your hands are wet.Once you've rinsed your hair, apply the already open conditioner, while running your fingers through your hair from root to tip. You can use a clip to keep your hair out of the water for 2-3 minutes. After the 2-3 minutes with conditioner on your hair, rinse and let air-dry for best results.
Don't shampoo until the next day or two to avoid drying your hair out.
